Headquartered in Xijiu Town, Xishui County, Zunyi City, Guizhou Province, Guizhou Dongniang Dongcang Liquor Co., Ltd. is a leading producer of Maotai-aroma baijiu crafted using the traditional Kunsha technique. The company boasts the world’s largest natural karst cave for both fermentation and aging, with a cave-brewing history dating back to the Jiaqing Era of the Qing Dynasty (1796) — over two centuries of heritage. Founded in May 1984 as the Linjiang Distillery under the Xishui County Township Enterprise Bureau, the company later transitioned to private contract management. In May 2018, Hong Kong Buchang Group became the controlling shareholder, injecting a fully paid-up registered capital of RMB 810 million.

To promote the integration of the baijiu and tourism industries, the company has planned and is building a 45,000-tonne annual capacity wine-tourism complex in the Xishui production region, with a total investment estimated at RMB 12 billion. Phase I — 640 mu, 1,200 standardized fermentation pits, annual output: 9,000 tonnes. Phase II — 1,400 mu, 2,600 fermentation pits, annual output: 21,000 tonnes. Phase III — 1,100 mu, 2,000 fermentation pits, annual output: 15,000 tonnes. As of June 2025, Phase I has received an investment of RMB 1.6 billion, completed 500 fermentation pits and commenced production, delivering 4,200 tonnes of base liquor annually. Additionally, the company operates 108 fermentation     pits in the Upper and Lower Cave facilities, producing an average of 300 tonnes/year, bringing the total annual capacity to 4,500 tonnes.

In terms of base liquor storage, the company has already achieved a storage capacity of 20,000 tons, with a total base liquor storage potential of up to 32,000 tons. It also possesses the world’s largest natural karst cave area for baijiu fermentation and aging, covering nearly 100,000 square meters, including over 36,000 square meters in the Guixiandong cave alone, and a total of 60,000 square meters of undeveloped storage caves. Looking ahead, the company plans to further expand its cave storage capacity for base liquor, with the goal of reaching 15,000 tons within the next three years.

The company adheres to the development philosophy of “brewing baijiu with the spirit of pharmaceutical craftsmanship,” upholding the principle of long-termism and committing itself to producing baijiu of lasting value. By combining traditional brewing techniques with modern management practices, and leveraging Buchang Group’s achievements in fermentation technology research, the company has upgraded and transformed its entire production process, pioneering the industry’s only karst cave fermentation technique for producing Maotai-aroma baijiu — the “22987 Cave Brewing Process” — which has been granted a national invention patent and recognized as a provincial-level Intangible Cultural Heritage. The company’s sales network covers all 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across China, with three major national sales platform systems, ten sales divisions, and subsidiaries nationwide. It holds significant market advantages in five major Maotai-aroma baijiu consumption provinces — Guangdong, Fujian, Henan, Shandong, and Shaanxi — while implementing a “tiered market layout” strategy for regions including Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai-Anhui, Hubei-Hunan, Northeast China, and Northwest China. The company’s annual sales scale can reach RMB 1 billion.

At present, the brand value of the company’s Guixiandong label has reached RMB 4.182 billion, with its products winning numerous prestigious domestic and international awards, including the “Brussels Grand Gold Medal,” the “Panama Pacific International Exposition Gold Medal,” the “National Maotai-aroma Baijiu Benchmark Brand,” the “Hua Zun Award,” the “Trusted Liquor Enterprise of the Zunyi Production Region,” and the “China New Top Eighteen Famous Baijiu Brands,” among others. These accolades not only highlight the exceptional quality of the company’s products but also underscore its leading position within the industry.

With strong support from the Guizhou Provincial Government, Guizhou Dongniang Dongcang Liquor Co., Ltd. has become an integral part of Xishui County’s “2+3+N” baijiu industry layout and has been listed as one of the three key enterprises receiving priority support in the Xishui production area. The company was included in Guizhou’s “2021 Newly Added Above-Designated-Size Industrial Enterprises Award List” and was honored with the “Outstanding Contribution Award for the Top Ten Excellent and Strong Enterprises of Xishui County in 2022.” In July 2022, the company also secured an investment of RMB 200 million from the Guizhou New Momentum Industry Development Fund, becoming a state-owned holding enterprise. The company aims to achieve its long-term targets of RMB 10 billion in output value and RMB 100 billion in market capitalization within the next 5–10 years, create no fewer than 10,000 jobs, and fulfill its annual tax contribution target of RMB 3 billion. At the same time, it will continue to drive technological innovation and industrial upgrading to provide consumers with higher-quality Maotai-aroma baijiu products.
